Starting on my first build from a plank. I am trying to produce a reasonably close copy of Gun #1 in Shumways book on George Schreyer. Has anyone taken one of these on and if so what trigger guard and butt plate did you use?
Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill,
I would suggest that you call Reeves Goehring and discuss your build plans with him. Reeves has many soft brass castings from original guns and may just have what you are looking for. Reeves' contact info and parts list is in the link below. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

I agree with Ron, check with Goehring first, he has a lot to choose from and might have it. Although last time I spoke with him at Friendship he no longer was able to use the foundry that was turning out those buttery soft smooth casting we all love so much. The new foundry was a little rough, I know he was disappointed with them. Another option, go through the TOW catalog with the full size pictures, there might be something in there that you can use as is or if close, could modify to work with some judicious hammering and filing. Good luck

I talked to Reaves about six weeks ago, and his stock was very low at the time. I was lucky he had some Long Land Brown Bess parts. I'd call, things may have changed.

Thanks to all!
I found a butt plate in a catalog. I will get with Reaves on the trigger guard though.
Thanks, Bill
