A short while ago I completed a build for a guy on a 3/4 scale rifle. ( http://americanlongrifles.org/forum/index.php?topic=37317.0 ) Several people have asked me to identify the parts used and I have most of them. However, I have not been able to track down the barrel maker. This is a sketch of the dimensions of the barrel and I thought I would ask if any of you had information on where this barrel may have come from originally. I can certainly duplicate it (or have it duplicated) but if there is someone out there already making something like this, that would be easier. Thanks in advance if you can provide any information.

I wasn't too clear on the sketch but both the octagon and the round portion of the barrel are tapered.

Yes, rifled, .45 caliber.

It was years ago but ran into a barrel much like what you discribe that was being sold by one of the muzzleloading supply companies. they had a collection of parts to make a Kids gun. the \oct to round tapered barrel was in .45 cal. \i want to say it was RE Davis at that time but it was 1998 or some such. Did They sell out to some one else? I bought one of their 4 bore buss barrels and a pre-carve from Michael Lee to match it. I was tempted to get their stock and barrel for the possible interest my then two toddlers may develop down the road. I regret not getting that set of parts.

Rice makes a very nice, small .40 caliber barrel suitable for a child's rifle. I made one for my grand daughter, using that barrel and a small siler lock.

Dave,
I think the guy you are thinking about was Vernon C. Davis.

I had one like that a while back and sold it to someone on the forum. It was a .45 cal rifled barrel made by Sharon.

Rice makes a swamped barrel for Chambers little fella rifle. Colerain makes an oct. to round rifled barrel for the boys rifle that Clay Smith does. These are both fine barrels.

Dave you are right it was Vernon Davis. I enjoyed talking with them. They are very helpful folks. I could have dropped a whole bunch on gun parts when I was there very easily.
