Am researching Frederick Maryland gunsmiths and gun lock factory during Revolutionary War. Does anyone have a copy of Hartzells Gunsmiths of Maryland? Cannot find any copies in public libraries. Looking for resource on the Peter Engels of Frederick MD. Would appreciate a lookup if you have the book and let me know if it has any information that confirms their activity between 1774 and 1783. That is the only information I need - if it lists their apprentices that would be helpful too.

Here is page 51 and 150 from Arms Makers of Maryland by Daniel D. Hartzler

Have you asked your local public library about borrowing a copy for you thru the Inter-Library Loan program?

Thanks for posting the pages. Apparently Gunsmiths of Maryland has a bit more detail but there is only one copy that I can locate in the World Cat library system and I don't have much hope that it will be available for loan through Inter library loan services.
Thanks again for your response

I live in Southern Maryland, and our library system got it for me through I.L.L. about 3 years ago. I think it came from Ohio.

I got this through ILL at my university library within a few days of retiring... from the university library. I worked at the library for 25 years. I ordered it the week before retiring and picked it up a few days after. I think it came from a public library in Maryland. This was during spring 2016.
