I just finished putting a Jim Chambers kit together . It practically put itself together.
Attached are the pictures of the build start to finish. I don't know how many pictures can be posted at one time so I will send them in two separate posts.
Lets see if I can do this again.

The shell carving is fantastic! Did you free hand draw that?
-
Your shop is as big a wreck as MINE. We can't have two warped minds in the same forum.
Or can we ;D

His shop is cleaner then mine, I can see some open spots!

David that's one fine gun. Well done. Looks like a gun builders shop to me...! Oldtravler

Fantastic job - the Shell carving is great - and the barrel engraving - I like the fit of the butplate - Liked yours so much, I did order that 20 gauge Officers Fusil from Jim.... Winter project...

itdann
I did draw the shell by hand, but I copied one that I saw in John Schippeers engraving book.
Most of my drawings are of my own design, but I do look through all the books for ideas.

Most visitors that come to my shop expect to see all the chisels lined up with label up, no wood chips of dust on anything. My shop is not a show place, I turn out a lot of fine guns there , and clean up after each project.
Visitors are welcome any time. Actually I didn't think it looked that bad.

If you keep that up you might get good enough one day I might be able to find something around here for you to work on. ;)

I have been to Dave's shop twice and I agree, it really is not that bad. I have the same philosophy, let things go and clean up after each project. A couple of times a year I host an open house in my shop and will break down and clean things up a bit, then I can't find anything for a week. ;D

Dave,
EEEEYOW! Those shell are wonderful. That is some of the finest tang carving design I have seen.
I like the interplay of the barrel engraving, the tang engraving, and the carving.
The deep finish you added makes everything pop.
Many thanks for sharing. Best wishes, and God Bless, Marc

Very credible job on a superlative parts set. I have the same gun and it is one of my favourites. With patched round ball, I shoot it, out to about sixty yards, as well as I shoot my rifles. And it is a natural follow through for shooting flying.

David, I've always looked forward to seeing your wonderful work at the CLA show in Lex. Thanks for posting it here for us all to enjoy. Bob

My gosh!! I haven't picked my chin up off the floor yet. That is AMAZING!!....Mick C
