OK - I made the holiday up - but I ordered an Isaac Haines kit from Jim and Barbie (Chambers) - and after reading a few traditional rifle books, and some (ok, many) images, I would like to see your pictures of your created masterpieces. I'm looking for your history, your decisions on what and why to chose designs and especially your results. With more ALR members posting images, it would be great to get some more participation, (and help me out a little) So - Any Isaac Haines Images hanging around?
Thanks,
Jon

Here's one I built a few years back.

Fantastic finish!!! - I like the vent pick holder...

You said, "Post your masterpiece's" Well this is nobody's masterpiece compared to most of the rifles that will be posted. I am not an artist but I can build a rifle that will really shoot. This is my second Isacc Haines, the first one is a .54 and is my main deer rifle.
This one is a .40 cal. "B" weight Rice barrel, Large Siler LH flintlock, Davis set triggers and Iron furniture. This one was built for Turkeys, Squirrels and paper. Stained a little darker than I like it has 8 coats of Chambers oil finish with the shine knocked back to a sheen so it'll be harder for a turkey to see it.
The only decoration are a few incised lines. The reason I bought another Isacc Haines is because the style just fits me so well and is comfortable to shoot.
If this rifle was meant to portray anything it would be a simple hunter's rifle for the wilderness. I missed the architecture on the first one due to no rifles available to handle or look at. I got it a little better on this one but it still needs work.
I'm not a builder, just a hunter who wants a better rifle.

I don't agree - That's a great,usable and practical rifle - and it's fitting for it's role... Well done! -

Over the years, I've had several orders for Isaac Haines rifles. The architecture of this Lancaster Co school rifle lends itself well to offhand shooting, and of course, the style and decoration are very popular. So here are some of those, from my files...

The kit is great, I have put together several, I'll have to see if I have any pics. But, I hate the buttplate, purely a figment of Bivins' imagination.

Mr. Sapergia !! beautiful work!! as always . Nate
-
Dark horse, Nate an Taylor very nice rifles I like them all. Darkhorse you an I like the same style. Simply a hunting man's gun. Mate an Taylor your probably bored looking at those beautiful firearms. So you better send them to me! Maybe after twenty years or so I'll send them back when I get bored looking at them...LOL...Oldtravler

I get to see some of these rifles from time to time at black powder doin's...like seeing your children again after a long absence. I don't own one though. Here's another that I recently had up for sale for the fellow who had me make it....

This rifle started life as a Issac Haines patteren parts set. I got the parts from the late Frank Bartlett. The stock was a piece of Freddie Harrison's stump maple. I built this rifle in 2011 and the carving and patch box have more of a Virginia flavor than Issac Haines.

Very impressive work, gentlemen!

I built this rifle from an Isaac Haines kit from Dunlap about 10 years ago. The steel parts have aged darker since then.

These photo's are a little better of a plain Isacc Haines. This was a kit from TOW and they don't offer set triggers with it. They said set triggers won't fit but I ordered a set anyway. They were right, set triggers don't fit....not easily anyway.

Excellent work guy's an keep them coming...!! Mike

This is a rendition of an Isaac Haines LR w/ a different style of carving and the Pbox although a Lancaster style, could be one that he might have made. At least the Bplate and TG are purported to be in the Isaac Haines realm as well as the architecture.....Fred

Ohhhhhhh. The sheer artistic talent born of hard work and diligent practice shown here is humbling to a man like me.
Beautiful work gents. God did some fine work in making that curly maple too.
Ron, that rifle you posted shows a practiced eye at "just right" decisions, a steady hand, and such a heart-warming color and finish. I especially like that fat tiger-stripe you selected for this build.
Best wishes, Marc
