VERY VERY NICE

Wow, this is outstanding. Would you please share the process you used relative to how you obtained that terrific finish for the wood?
-
WOW! John, that is Really neat, well done.

Nice to see something a bit different. Well done.
-
I like it -- every thing on this rifle screams great workmanship, appealing looks, and care in the design ;). Nice job 8)
-
Nice? Great little fun gun to shoot, and/or hunt with. Well done.
-
Well done and beautiful! New fangled lock technology!

Nicely made little rifle...great squirrel rifle. A little more oil around those sights will take care of the faded out browning, unless that's a look you like.
Nice architecture in the butt stock/cheek area. What is the LOP...looks long!?
-
Very nice work. Thanks for sharing. Bob

I like it too..., nicely done!

Thanks for the imput guys....as for the LOP: it is just a tad under 13 1/2 inches, and yup, I need to get an old toothbrush loaded with oil on the rear sight, no big deal there.
The finish on the wood is color wise: a heavy coat of walnut stain (Laurel Mountain Forge), very heavy....let it dry, buff the daylights out of the stock with 0000 steel wool, then I took LMF nut brown dye and a small amount of leather dye (dark brown) mixed these together and applied over the stock. I liked what I saw so I didn't go any further. The finish is a very thick coat of Birchwood Casey True Oil very thick and this I let dry for a day. Once again I buffed this off with 0000 steel woll, I pretty much buffed it down to the surface, I rotated the stock in light until I saw all of the oil (now set up) was completely off. I then applied super light coats of Wahkon Bay Tru Oil on the stock everyday for a week. I would aply this top coat in the mornings, leave it be, go to work, repeat the next day. Eventually I will buff it with some wax, continue to oil the lock and barrel, test fire it and away she goes.

One of the nicest half stocks I've seen. Really a great gun.
