Last year I started demonstrating making trade silver at a couple of 18th Century Event's and found I needed some proper magnification. I picked up some proper period specs, then needing to protect them I needed a proper spectacle protector and this is what I came up with.It is loosely based on several period examples. The engraving is several engraving studies that I found interesting.

It's so cool that you've developed into a very fine silversmith. Would love to see a tutorial sometime about how you make a box like this. But maybe that would be sharing trade secrets!

WOW! REALLY nice work, not only the case but the Engraving design, it is well designed and executed.

Be glad to post my methods if there's interest.I only know what I know because others have shared with me.I'll try and take photo's along the way on the next box I make and do a tutorial.

Very nicely done, and super craftsmanship. There is a world of trouble going on in those engraved images. :-) Are those period scenes you copied, or did you draw them yourself? Best wishes, and God Bless, Marc

You hit it out of the park my friend. Awesome little piece of work...

Thanks everyone ,this will be on my table at any events I'm at . :)

The images are all based on images from the period or earlier .The sea serpent is from an old map and most of the rest are from a French pattern book. The little devil boy on the bottom I did by a transfer process that a lot of engravers use using a laser printer. It worked ok but it's something I need to play with more. The images on the top I drew on using china white as a base and then drawing in pencil.I only need the out lines as all the shading is done freehand rather than drawing it.Either way the art is not my original work but is either copied or inspired by original work.

I love your engraving it looks like it could have come from an 18th century shop by a very good hand.
