Title: Mule ear lock Origins & uses today

It seems to me that the Mule ear lock is some thing that is use with in a particular geographic area or slightly larger. I ran across a example of one that was on a very plain longrifle. But the lock it self was very nicely engraved and had a very forward swept bolster section. I recall seeing a few mule ear rifles that a member posted a long while back. Any thoughts?

 I know that the folks that are using this arrangement are pleased with the fast lock time and fast ignition. I like the upper Susquehanna rifle posted here by Hoot Al,with its mule ear lock. I was hoping that we might be able to get a look at the internals of this type of lock. Or at least a diagram of the way the system works. Is any one buliding these commercially today?

I dont know where I was on that one but totally missed it. Thats what I was needing for my files.
I think Nord or Tim M has a mule ear with a very nice patch box maybe from Susquehanna or the like.
