Picked up my kit from Jim and Katherine at CLA show. To slow myself from rushing to complete. I watched a video/took some notes and then out to the shop to complete that portion of the build. Then repeated with the next video. I am not a gun builder. This process took two weeks but with the tips and info in the video the end result was worth it. This is a standard grade wood kit . I built a SMR two years ago at a class with Jim Parker. Now I have two quality rifles.

nice! wow that wood looks great for standard grade too!

Yeah, for "standard grade", it really has a lot of great curl! GA, you did a fine job with the rifle - thanks for showing it. How and what finish to bring out the best in that maple?
I am going to have to keep an eye out for one of Jim's fancy grade stocks! Be lovely to see.

Looks great!! Any inclinations to take the plunge into building one from scratch? Bet you’d really enjoy it, and you have a really nice study piece.... Best,

Great looking rifle. Makes me want one even though I'm A SMR guy. Now!!! If you could just find someone to build you a nice powder horn. ;D ;D ;D
Do you still have the southern banded horn that was posted here not so long ago?
