Title: black oxide wood screws

About the recent post by Dennis about black oxide wood screws......How does the black finish effect browning or blueing the screw head? Is there a simple secret for removing the finish first?

If you are filing them to fit contours (as on patch boxes) then then the black oxide finish is gone  ;) and should pose no problem. Otherwise sand or file the heads as you would normally to a cleanup finish and you should be good to go.
