I picked up about twenty wood samples from a local recycle shop. Mahogany, oak, walnut and cherry. They were nicely finished and I just had to have them. After tripping over them for the past YEAR, I found a use. You could check with a local cabinet shop to see if they have discontinued samples like this or just use a piece of scrap.

Mark where you want your holes. 7/8 inch between holes works well.

Drill through and route two channels on bottom to receive clip. Straighten ends of wire parts. Drive them through. (The shape and tough-springyness of the metal really locks them in.)

Put heat shrink tubing on the metal. Leave about 3/8 overhang. Heat shrink. Bend the excess back over. Put a 3/8 inch piece of heat shrink tubing back on and shrink again.

The "uprights" will stay where you put them to allow you to display your horn to its best advantage.

It took about ten minutes to make this once I got the stuff together.

BTW, I just made another to display a "art" bowl made of burl. It worked great.
