Title: Pick holder
Post by: 577SXS on August 26, 2020, 03:31:32 PM
I want to make a pick holder like this Volger one and would like a little information. I've looked at lots of these and not sure I've ever seen a vent pick in one. What does the pick look like that goes in this type of holder? Is it just a pointed wire or is it a forged twisted fancy thing. I've got ideas but would like to see original vent picks that went in this type of holder. I'd also like to see some close up photos of this type of pick holder.

Here are 3 pictures from my Frank Bartlett rifle.   The vent pick has been a little bit of a PIA.      It has fallen out more then once and causing searches for the darn thing.

I should of bent it more to keep it securely in place.   My lack of experience with one of these.

As you can see, this one is nothing fancy, just a pick.

Most are just a wire with a loop on the end for a handle.

I’d make one looking like a shepherds hook that was sprung to cling slightly.

Got the pick holder inletted and now to make a pick. Also have to figure out how to shape the wood above the pick holder. Photos of the Vogler gun just don't show it well.

That will likely work, even if a little elaborate. :D
