I've started engraving my side plate for the gun I'm building.

Marcruger I love Vogler Eagles! The gun I'm building is a Haines style. I know I'm not school or area correct. I build the way I like them.

The eagle looks great,but I think overall would look better with a border on the plate.

Thanks, I haven't finished it yet. I'm thinking of an American flag on the right and some type of border and scroll on the rest.

That looks very nice! Don’t you think there may be too many stars on the flag for the period of the gun?

Well the gun is being built now not in 1776. I thought of doing a period flag but decided to go with current one. I may have one star too many, my eyes were getting fuzzy doing them.
