How did you determine this gun smith was from Tyler County, WV?
I have found no reference of a gun smith by this name living in this county.
I have lived in Tyler County for almost 60 years and I have never heard of him.

You have sparked my interest in this man. If he was indeed from Tyler County, WV; he was one fine craftsman. Very pleasing rifle!

As I recall there is another "AN Jackson" rifle shown in "Kentucky Rifles and Pistols 1750-1850" by Johnson.  He lists it as "southern attribution" I believe. Looks a lot different from this gun but it has been a while since I looked at it, but as I recall it was a pretty nice flint gun.
