Bobby Hoyt and Charlie Burton also make fine barrels.

Bobby has no website but is a member here.  Here is Charlies website:

https://fcibarrels.tripod.com/

Both of these guys make excellent barrels, and both are members of this forum.  I currently have barrels on order from them both.

We cannot forget our friends at Rice barrels either.  Again, excellent barrels, here is their website too:

http://www.ricebarrels.com/chart.html

Probably way more information than the OP wanted or needed, but hey, anything we can do to promote our friends business.  ;D

We are blessed to have such an abundance of fine barrels available nowadays. So many profiles, lengths, and calibers. I have just one Ed Rayle barrel stocked up, in a heavy bench/chunk gun. It’s 0.50 caliber, 1 in 72 twist, 48” long and 1.5” across the flats. Wish I could shoot it to its capability. Since switching to shooting left handed off the bench because my left eye is much stronger I get targets with all holes touching at 50 yards on good days. Unfortunately those are not match days for some reason! Pretty sure DGB could do it consistently with this gun.

What kind of steel does Mr. Rayl use in his barrels?

Some say it’s 8620. Whatever it is, it’s tough. Can tell when engraving.

No Daryl, A light weight pair of swamped barrels for a swivel breech that never happened. I bought them probably 10 / 12 years ago.

I have several rifles built with Ed Rayl's barrels. They all shoot great. I'm in the process of building a swivel breech rifle with 2 of his barrels. Just received a Jack Brooks pattern Oerter Griffin barrel from Ed. The wait time is 2 to 2 1/2 years on Ed's barrels. Unless you catch him running exactly what you want. If you want one of his barrels, call him and get on the list. He is a good guy and easy to deal with.

All good advice. But you could post on the buy, sell site. Maybe someone has what you want.

I bought a 56" long barrel 10g barrel from Ed about a year ago.  The wait was less than 3 months.  I guess you never know.  I also got parts from the Rifle Shoppe in less than 3 weeks last month.  I must be living right or something.

I did get a pistol barrel from Ed about 4 years back and got it in about 3 weeks. It just happened he was getting ready to make 2 other pistol barrels in the same caliber and he ran mine at the same time. Like David said, you never know.

Can he rebore a .45 to .50? I think it’s one of his making.
