My latest creation I tried to put together a few ideas to build something a little different. In some areas I somewhat copied an original and in other areas I drifted. Hopefully the end result makes sence. All hand forged mounts of brass, copper and iron {actually mild steel} and a Hickory under rib.

Nice.
That guy over there in Bremerton is rubbing off on you.
-
That is sweet! Nice work.
-
Nice clean looking rifle, sleek too.
-
Beautiful rifle. Super clean finish and architecture. Double base front site is a nice touch. Is that a wooden under rib?
Cheers,
Ken

STONER, your probably correct and it does seem kind of perverted for guys up here in the N.W. to be building these Southern Mountain Guns. Oh well, I guess no really sane person would be messing with this stuff at all.
KEN, yes the under rib is Hickory and it proved to be a slightly larger challenge than a person would think.

Has a real good look to it. Strong work!

I have no interest in the "sane"world.I have always been crazy to prevent insanity
and I think Waylon Jennings even had a song about the condition.
That is a fine looking rifle and a job to be proud of.

Beautiful work, Jim. Another one to be proud of there.

Beautiful, beautiful fire arm. Love that gold and brown, looks top shelf for sure.
Please let us know how it shoots.
Go down to Florida. Tons and tons of nasty ol' feral hogs. You can hunt them 24 hours a day, no bag limit. Not even sure if you need a hunting license.
Taken care of, the meat is really delicious.

Clean love it, I particularly like the cheek peace.
-
Well done, I like the way you think.

That's a great rifle!
-
Very nice! And I also like the cheek piece.
-
Well done. Looks like a nice shooting rifle.
-
Fiddler, I tried to SOMEWHAT copy the rifle in your posted photos, with some obvious detours. The stock is Sugar Maple,Rice barrel is 45cal x 42" x 15/16", Davis triggers, Chambers lock. LOP is 13 1/2" and weight is 9 1/2#. Maybe a bit heavy, but really hangs well off hand.
-
Nice job Jim!
I look forward to seeing it in person if they ever get the border open.

Jim, I always enjoy looking at your work. Your workmanship is good and you get "the look" right!
-
That's a beauty Jim. I too saw a little Rase in there. I love your finish on this one as well as others you've done lately. Neat wrist architecture on this gun. Well done sir. God Bless, Marc
