Title: Flintlock touch-hole liner removal help
Post by: XVIIc Wheelock on July 01, 2021, 04:32:11 PM
How do you remove this liner? I need to replace it and have the correct Pedersoli replacement.  I let it soak with PB Blaster. Mine is somehow wedged or stuck...even tried a reverse screw remover tool. The slot for a flathead screwdriver is now buggered up. I am making matters worse every time I try a different method. I don't want to mar the barrel.  Help!

I would drill it out bigger to use a bigger easy-out. Then hit the barrel but not the liner with the torch.

I use the tap size drill for the liner, ie #3 drill for 1/4" liner thread and drill out the liner.  Just the liner thread will be left which is removed with a steel pick.  Total time for the job is 2-3 minutes.

I drill about an 1/8" hole in it and use an easy out. If it doesn't come right out heat the barrel to almost too hot to touch and try again.
