Has anyone here seen the Lynton McKenzie engraving DVD's and are they worth getting? The set is pretty pricey but if there is good information they may be worth having.
Thanks,
Kevin

I've got the set on VHS tape if you've got a player. $100 plus shipping.

Lynton was a master engraver and he did restoration on some engraving when he was 12 years old.
I knew him and had the rare privilige of being able to call him and borrow whatever I needed no matter how valuable it was.The 2 sizes of 4 pin Stanton locks came from him and when he passed away in February of 1998 we lost a world class craftsman.

Hi Kevin,
They are pricey and I cannot say if they are worth the cost for you, however. the VHS tapes taught me to engrave. Living in Alaska gave me few options to learn so I had to teach myself. I had Meek's book, which is very useful as a reference for art but useless as a teaching guide. McKenzie's videos started the ball for me and showed me how to sharpen the tools, make cuts, draw designs, etc. It was also a pleasure just to watch him engrave with hammer and chisel.

Thanks Dave. I have books and videos and have taken a class at Cabin Creek. This is going to be an X-mas present from my wife. I figured that if I learned a few things it would be worth it.
