So I'm making an assumption John Forker Built this rifle. Forker is stamped on the barrel, he was a gunsmith by trade, and served in the war of 1812 He was afterward prominently identified with the militia of Mercer county, holding the rank of Brigadier-General. I read on this site, The Forker family of gunsmiths has a brief write up in Henry J. Kauffman's "The Pennsylvania-Kentucky Rifle". 34 inch octagonal barrel. 35 cal. rifled. 46" long. Curly maple full stock with 4 piece patchbox. Ok full discloser. When I bought the rifle UPS thought it would be better if it was in two pieces. After getting the run around then a lowball offer I showed them, I put my wife on it. So it sat in the closet for three years and I just put it back together and it's not complete just minor cosmetics, so I hid the crack with the gun vice. It did go back together nicely with quite a bit of work with West epoxy and two steel pins
