Title: Some fine builders
Post by: G-Man on November 17, 2009, 04:01:50 PM
Jim Klein has a new website up and running.  In addition to his fine custom work, he offers some nice pre-inlet Beck, Berry and Virginia rifle kit styles that are very high quality.  Super nice guy to deal with too.

Also - you don't get to see Freddie Harrison's rifles very often - everyone knows him for his fine stock woods, but a lot folks don't know he is a fine builder.  There is a good example on the Contemporary Makers blog spot today. His work is very unique - one of the traits is that when you study one of his rifles, every time you turn it over and look there is a little subtle touch of character - not gaudy - just enough to make every angle interesting.  His metal work is really nice.  The piece that is shown is one of my favorites of his - love the patchbox.  Lots of unexpected touches, like the reworked Caywood French style lock.  Just a nice, unique contemporary piece.
