Post by: sdilts on June 29, 2023, 05:02:02 PM
Stew Mac has just lowered their prices on their Dragon rasps. Just ordered one.

A question for you guys using these rasps.  What size, type do you find works best?

I have the large coarse one. I use it more than my Nicholson 49 and Liogier. You can take off a lot of wood in a hurry with it. I especially like the wide end for flattening surfaces. I ordered a small coarse one to try out.

I use the large coarse as well - great shape and size.  I also use the smaller 'oval' shape one - convex on both sides.

I have a large coarse and a large fine. I think it depends on if you are starting from a blank and have a need to remove alot of wood or if you are starting on a precarve. I use booth of them, but i'm not a builder.
