This might make a neat wall hanger. Barrel is marked imported by Henry Hyman 96 Main Street, Richmond, VA. Lockplates are marked James Webley London.
Seller says circa 1870, but I've found references to Hyman at that address as early as the 1850s selling jewelry, watches, percussion caps, powder flasks, etc., so Hyman was certainly established well before 1870.
Could the James Webley London marking make the seller think 1870s?
Thank you.

I have no idea, but neat wrist repair!

The "original metal tape". :) All else is just an imitation.

When I first saw the repair in the full length view I said "duck tape." Made me loose interest in buying it. But then with the close-up picture I said, "Hey, cool."

Nothing wrong with old repairs, I actually like them. Let's us see how the people back in the day kept an old gun in use.

Have to see the triggrrguard and buttplate finial to date it.

I like the old repairs. Half my collection has old repairs, I did a display at a recent gun show that featured old repairs.

A pretty standard medium-grade Birmingham gun. I'd guess about 1850 – 1860 There is no reason to think the name on the lock telly us anything beyond who sold it.

So I asked the seller (auction house) for the shipping charge to my zip code. They told me $125 to $135.
So looking at the shipping, 20%+ buyer's premium, credit card fee, and probably another couple of fees I'm not aware of, it doesn't leave much left for an actual bid!
