Title: Barrel transition to breach area
Post by: Dave B on June 08, 2008, 09:38:33 AM
I posted this on the other site but thought it would be good here as well.
Here are a couple originals for comparison with one of mine in process.
The biggest problem we face with out having originals to hold is the pictures don't give you those subtle contours. The post it strips show what you miss in the photo in regards to the actual contours.

Good idea, the sticky white things. The photo really hides that contour from the eye.

When final shaping that aria I do just what you did to your rifle. I start with a 45 to the flat and then either just soften the edge or completely round it, what ever fits the architecture of the gun best.

Bent flint,
The sticky things are cut up section of post it's. They stay in place long enough to get the photo but don't pull up any finish when you take them off.
Rob,
I am glad your finding this stuff helpful. I have always been a detail kind of guy and always want to know more about how things were done or see how they work. Some folks start to get that deer in the headlight look in their eyes when I get started talking details.
