You sound like me. :)

This contemporary is very realistically aged.

John,
Look at the late Anstadt rifle with the "Indian Head". It's a Sirkin Rifle.

That's true, it says as much. So do you know some secret info on this one?
I know Sirkin got screwed over by a bunch of guys that really stuck it to him...... And the aftermath is still being felt today.....

John,
No, other than I would be suspect of it. I’ve never claimed to be an expert, I’d guess that the rifle is a late Anstadt. Has all of the hallmarks of the family style, architecture, engraving etc. I find the Indian Head suspect, maybe Dave or Eric has seen one in the past but that detail and the good Doctors name are a closer for me - doesn’t look right.

Oh yes, anything with his name attached should be looked at with a very sharp eye.
I felt bad for the guy getting bent over like he did.
John

John,
I agree, he was taken advantage of. Unfortunately a common occurrence, it really left the collecting fraternity in a bad light and ruined the market.

I saw that gun also, to me t looks like a legit Angstadt gun from the photos. That symmetrical style style patchbox head was one of the two variations that they seem to have used.
-
Dave,
What about the Indian Head? To my recollection I’ve never seen that detail on an Anstadt.

Only one guy screwed him over John, and he was supposed to be his best friend. Go figure.

Buck, you have a good point about the indian head. You are correct, I have not seen seen that on an Angstadt either. Also I can’t speak to the originality / condition of the gun, only that the style and patchbox seems legit overall.

Well Frank you'd know more about this than I, so I'll stand corrected.
