Title: Buttons
Post by: B.Barker on October 03, 2023, 04:13:10 AM
I'm afixin to make me a shot pouch with a button and made several to choose from. The others will probably be table fair at the next show I set up at. I don't make bags very often these days.

Really neat, well done. Tell us about, what they're made from and how you did them. How about a Pic of the backs.

  Thanks, Tim

Sorry for budding in with my 'button' Brian. I didn't read that you had made and engraved them. Lovely fine work.

Tim they were made from sheet brass and sterling. I domed them with a wood swage and small ball peen hammer. I used some old copper 12 ga. wire to make loops and soldered them on the back side. I'll try to remember to take a photo tomorrow and post it.

Here is a photo of the back of one of my buttons. It's just a small piece of copper wire soldered on to the back for a loop.

Nice, looks like you could tin both and then put a nail through the eye, rest it on the back so it is just touching the button, hit it with heat from below, let it cool and be done. I'm gonna give it a try. Now...get back to that cabin ;D

   Thanks, Tim

Really nice and your engraving is great on them. I have a couple late 1700s brass ones found at a local Native site, yours are similar to except they're almost flat.
