Title: Old horn
Post by: 5judge on October 10, 2023, 06:18:23 PM
Blundered into this elegantly simple horn at last week's Louisville show. Didn't haggle over the 100.00 price tag. Straight measure is 13-inches, spout mouth a generous .354-inches. One insect nip which doesn't go all the way through. I'm not a horn guy...is this possibly 18th Century? Any insights as to point of origin, based upon style? Thanks.

PS: Dang, forgot the photographs. It's not all beer and skittles when you're 80....

The old tutorial we had for posting pics was moved to the Back Fence and with time it has disappeared, it seems.

Most of us use imgbb.com to host our pictures, I think. Once you upload, you will be given a choice of imbed codes  - "BBCode full" works with this forum. Copy and paste the code from ImgBB to your post here. If you click away from the imbed codes, pressing "C" will bring them up again.

Use the "preview" function here to make sure everything will work before posting.

Huh. I went and looked for it there, but I guessed I missed it. I also used the "search" function, but all I turned up were references with dead links...No need to make a new one, it seems.

It’s a good looking early horn, right up my alley. I’d guess 1800 or earlier.
