Title: fowler muzzle end stock shape
Post by: Maurice on December 12, 2023, 09:23:53 PM
Would there be a slight flair in the last few inches of the stock at the muzzle end of a British style fowler (mid 1770’s - American made).  Cannot tell from pictures in Grinslade’s Flintlock Fowler book. Somewhere I got the idea that this area of the stock is referred to as a “schnabble” and has a slight bulge.

Jim Chambers has an English fowling gun with a little Schnabel at the end
Most English guns don't  have it.
