If the wedge is pinned, those are stops to prevent the wedge from coming out of its slot too far.
If your wedges aren't pinned, they are casting flaws. ;D

How would you get them into the slot in the first place with that nub on there?
File it off and use a pin to keep them from coming out, if you want to....but not mandatory.

I got an answer, Jess @ TRS says he files them off.

Are you referring to the short section of the pin slot being filled with casting material? I suspect that the extra metal in the slot is so the builder can custom fit the wedges to his stock, cutting away the material as required to make the wedges just clear the barrel tenons as they are withdrawn to remove the barrel. When I made a TRS Baker for a local fellow, I don't remember wondering about the extra metal at the time. I likely just used a hack saw and files to remove it.

The bit indicated is a tiny box shape that sits proud of the wedge.

Scota: that will disappear when you polish the wedges. Looks like a stop was added to the slot before casting to limit the travel of the slide in the tenon. You may end up cutting some of it away as well when you are fitting the wedge and its keeper pin.

That nub could never be allowed to remain as it would impede the sliding of the wedge and make inletting the slot a nightmare. Besides how would it clear the barrel loop?

as stated they gotta go ;)
