Title: LEONARD REEDY RIFLES

  I think I started turning grey when I decided to build a longrifle, or should I say picking out a school to build.  I have finally decided to build a Leonard Reedy style rifle. If anyone as some pics, or info on original Reedy guns an would post them it would be much appreciated.

This is a pretty typical Reedy gun with most of his stylistic bells and whistles.

  Thanks for the reply. Looking at the pics of that rifle I've noticed that the barrel seems to be installed using wedges instead of pins. Was this the norm for Reedy rifles, or did he use both? I also noticed an escutcheon was not used for the wedge. All info appreciated.

If no one has any pics or info can someone tell me where I can possibly see one in person like a museum.

Never say never, but I believe Reedy was inclined to use wedges without an inlay around them.
Most of the usual books have pictures of Reedy's, as he was a truely fine maker! Sorry, I'm out of town so can't say which books exactly, but I'm sure someone else can help out there.

There are three on display at the Berks Co. Historical Society dis play and in their book. Its a temporary display that ends soon so you better hurry. They have a website. I have the book if you want to see it. I live about an hour's drive from you near Benton which is twenty miles north of Bloomsburg.

Just for reference, the Berks County Longrifle exhibit at the Berks County Historical Society has been extended to February 27th.  Well worth it if you can make it.....
