I have a 1-1/2 Bill Moody benchrest barrel on the back of the barrel there's some marking stamped one of them is MMw one of them is .500 One is 1–661 is 055 my question is does anyone know what the 055 might mean

Just a guess but would it be grove depth? :-\

I think it means the barrel is #55. I bought a .50 caliber barrel from Bill when he first started making barrels and mine was marked MMW, .500, 1-60, 001 and he told me it was the first 50 caliber barrel he sold. That was a long time ago, 1980’s? He had a neat shop there in Seymour MO.

55th, .50 bl. sounds legitimate.

Not rate of twist is it?
The 55 that is.

It's stamped 1-66, Richard.
