Title: Schools for making BP firearms
Post by: Dave B on June 09, 2008, 05:13:19 PM
Are any of you aware of classes being offered to teach rifle building other than those of Connor Prairie and Bowling green KY? A fellow ask this question on the ALR.com site and he is not too far from Me in WA and was hoping to help him in his quest.

I'd ask Ron Scott, Dave.

Is this the Appleton Estate talking?

I just made that up.

Here is a class that was offered in Virginia.  I think they have done this course in prior years so maybe they've got it on the schedule again.

Dave,  There are two Guilds in the northwest that are having events in August.  On August 1-3 the Montana Historical Gunmakers Guild is holding their 2008 event in Bozeman, Montana.  On August 22, 23 and 24 George Suiter will be our guest speaker at the Washington Historical Gunmakers Guild in Little Rock, Washington.  Both guilds are offering hands on classes as well as seminars on various aspects of muzzleloading gunmaking.  I have information available for both events, if anyone is interested.  I will be presenting at the Washington event but between attending Dixon's and Hefley Creek this year, Montana is going to be too much unless I can get a car pool together.

What Dave said,  In addition I know Brad Emig gives occasional gunbuilding workshops, but he is in Pennsylvania.  I am going to Conner Prairie this year with my wife.
