It seems that I read somewhere that you could use lead shot in a 32 cal. The only problem is I don't remember what size they said to use. Anyone have any ideas?

In Dixie Gun Works Catalog, page 633 they give the size of buckshot, Western size No. 4 buckshot or American size No. 0 is .32 diameter. steg49

00 is 33 and 0 is 32. Used a 319 in my 32s with good luck. Had one in Douglas and one in Montana barrels? Most buckshot sold is hardened with a touch of antimony. Track of the Wolf now lists pure lead buck shot in 0 size for $24.50 for 5 pounds. You may find this easier than casting your own. I bought 5 pounds of #3 from Track and do not own a mold. There is a slight variance in sizes of about .003-.004 but most run at .248. You will get the same thing casting, and whether it matters unless you are shooting 100 yard bench I do not know. I do not own a mold for the 25 as the cost of the mold would take a lot of casting to match the cost of the shot. Even swaged ball at about $8.00 per hundred would give you 200 shots at the cost of a Lee mold. For some its part of the do it yourself thing, for me it gives me more time to do other do it your self things.

I use Hornady "0" buck in all my 32's. Bought 25 boxes back when it was 7.50 a box. There is
about 720 of them in 5 lbs. I shoot about a box a year, I'm 67 so that ought to be enough.

Common lead buckshot in bags is now getting hard to find. The Hornady in 5 pound plastic bags is oversized, alloyed and out of round. There once was time when it was cheaper to buy a box of 12 gauge buckshot shells in single ought and break them down than to buy a box of RB. And lastly, the choice of diameters in 32 is more limited now than it once was. Lon

The 0 Buck Hornady's that I have measure from .320-.324 That's on the same ball, so they
are out-of-round by .004. This really doesn't mean anything to be because when the ball
comes out the muzzle it is perfectly round. My bore is .320 and I use .010 patch. False muzzle
groove is .326
