Same target and rules as July, 5 shots at 50 yds rested
Tony

Just picked up some 60# stock and printed some targets. Look forward to shooting this with a different rifle.
-
I might even get home next week to shoot this one.
Looking forward to it. Taylor?
I think I've got the balls - cast.
-
Yes, let's shoot this one! Life was too hectic for July's match...now I have a second chance.
-
By the rules am I allowed to shoot this months match also?
Tony
-
Certainly, however ever since this postal match's inception, the current match director's targets have not counted.
-
That makes sense to me, I thought it was something like that, I thought that I better ask the question
Thanks Daryl
-
Gotta eliminate the competition for at.least one match. ;)
-
On the other hand oft times the shoot's director usually also submits targets saying these won't count.
-
Well Daryl came back home from the lake for a few days, so we made a date to shoot this month's postal match...can't say it was a complete waste of powder and lead, because all trigger time is good.
But neither of us was happy with the results. Nevertheless, here's today.s best target, I score at 40/50. There are two in the ten spot which is easier to see on the target bud laying to the left of the score target. It was raining lightly when we arrived so the targets got a little wet, and the big balls (mine a .60 and Daryl's .69) tear a pretty big hole, even backed with coroplast sign stock.
I think I'd like to shoot this target again, next time with the .50 cal barrel in this rifle....
First target of the month...should be easy to beat!

Not much better. Found out I had 6 on one target, the one I used 2 targets for. Too much walking for us.
.682" ball, 110gr. 2F Schutzen, 10 ounce denim (.021")
Table rest 50 lasered yards.
6 shots, no score, or drop the 10 and it gets a 36, I think.

5 shots, scored a 39, I think.

Scored a 42(likely) or 43.

It happens.

Taylor, I agree with the 40/50

Daryl I see it as a 36/50, 39/50, and 43/50

Even though my scores won’t be counted, I’m going to try and get out tomorrow and shoot this target
Good shooting Taylor and Daryl!!
Tony

Daryl & Taylor, You guys like punishing yourselves shooting the big guns from a rest.
Any how I find that carboard works better than coroplast sign board as backer. I hope to get out soon and shoot this again.
-
Mine doesn't kick that much, but I do have to concentrate on the squeeze or you will get one out to the left. It happens.

Marc and I were able to get in a bit of time on the range this morning. He's an excellent spotter - better than this shooter is a shooter! Thanks, Marc! Another one of those days with the sun playing peek-a-boo. I need some younger eyes and/or better glasses (both!). Oh, well. It's still fun trying! Maybe we'll get another chance to get out.
.40 SMR. 42inch x 7/8 inch Rice barrel. .390 ball with .015 canvas. 55 grains GOEX FFFG, Hoppe's Patch Lube.
TonyN, you call the score. Thanks for the match.

Nice group JB.
Too bad about the 8.
-
Daryl,
I let two drift to the left into the 8-ring last month. I must have some fascination with the left side of the target :)! Also, comapred to last month, we found that I needed to reposition the spotter bud. I was just seeing things a bit differently this time around. At any rate, had a good morning.

I was having similar difficulties with wind age. My front bead is the same size as the bud (4" at 50) I was using.
I had some larger targets for buds. I should have used one.
-
I tried some different buds this morning but they wewre not helpful. I went back to a triangle (approximately 9 inches on the legs) cut from black poster board. These were placed above the ten ring with the apex pointing down towards the bull. Target was still quite fuzzy but was the best I could do. I can't overcome the age issue ;D. Had fun any way.

J.B. It looks like a 45/50 to my eyes? Like Daryl said, great group!

JB is very modest and slights his shooting abilities. I think the target shows the truth. That eight that slipped out of the group was shot number 5. I forgot my binoculars so a lot of walking back and forth 50 yards at the time.
The wooded range has the morning sun slanting through woods over the left shoulder playing havoc with shafts and slivers of moving light on the target. I couldn't see much, but JB sure made the best of it. I desperately need some new "readers". I know my rifle has the capability, but my eyes currently don't.
13 days left gents. Get your rifles out and hit the range.
God Bless, Marc

I have been trying to get out to shoot this but the wind has been “up”. It been down yesterday and today. But of course the 50 yard backer at the range has been shot to ribbons and is in pieces and today the 100 yard as well. Hopefully the responsible party will get this fixed this weekend some time and the wind will cooperate.
-
Was home an extra day this week, but we didn't get out shooting. Maybe next for next month's match?
-
Tomorrow is the last day to shoot this month’s match, I have JBJ leading with a 45/50 and a very good group as of now

Bad day here, brisk variable cross wind. I was using my .36 Kibler SMR which I have sighted for 35 yards. Tried some sticky notes for adjusted aim points, but they blew off. 40 grain 3Fg, .350 RB, .020 patch, spit lube, sandbag forward rest.
Pictures won't load for some reason, but it does not matter, I score only 5+7+7+7+5=31
-
JBJ is the winner of the August match with a score of 45/50. Good shooting sir!

Thanks, Tony. Wish some more folks had turned out.
On to September!!
