Title: Making screw tip horn ?

Just wonder where you get a tap & die for making screw tips?

 Some depends on how HC/style of horn you want to make, you can have tap & dies made. If you have any question PM me Tom.

Thanks Rich and Tim! I had no idea what size thread pitch was normally used. I don't have a lathe to make a good tip, so I will stick to regular horns. I enjoy making them between guns and usually use them for shoot prizes at blanket shoots.
I generally do F&I & Rev War era horns depending on the size & shape of the horn.

Ace Hardware, Napa Auto, etc.
I typically use 5/8-11
A 3/4 hole saw will give you a pretty good tennon on the tip of the horn to work the die onto.  It will take just a tiny bit of file work for a good fit.
For a smaller horn, a 1/2" coarse thread is a good size.

A question I have is would a carbide die be worth the money?

An old post of mine from 2015 that may be of some help.  The "box" tool I made out of steel could also be made out of maple or another hardwood.
