I've killed 3 deer with percussion muzzleloaders, but until recently, never with a flintlock.
Texas muzzleloader season ended January 19th. I had not had many days to hunt, due to being gone a lot for work.
I finally got my first deer, a doe, with a flintlock, on the evening of the 18th.
The rifle is by Lowell Haarer. He makes a fine shooting and beautiful rifle.

I looked at Mr. Haarer's rifles at the Alabama Kentucky Longrifle show a few years ago, very fine rifles indeed.

:D Nice shot Allen, was it a running shot? ;D

.54
The deer dropped straight to the ground after the shot. No running, no tracking required.

Great hunt, and what a fine rifle!
