Title: Virginia Style Rifle
Post by: STJ1954 on February 27, 2025, 11:18:19 PM
Have been working on a Virginia style rifle off and on for some time. Got back on it a month ago. This gun has been a real challenge for me. My first build was a Hawken, that went pretty smooth. Was at the point to color caseharden the lock. Sent the Hawken to Wyoming Armory. No complaints, they did very good job. Found Nice Old Double Gunworks in Durham, N.C. sent the Virginia rifle lock to them. Beautiful colors and was close to me (3.4 hours).

They did a nice job on the color case.

Yes indeed, that is pretty case hardening.   It reminds me to a degree of David Rase's fine case hardening.
