Title: Scottish highland pistol fabrication
Post by: Dave B on March 17, 2025, 06:56:32 PM
Has any one come across any information on how the Scottis smiths went about fabricating their metal pistol frames? I have a carrige house kit with a ready made metal stock frame of sheet steel. It is not immediatly evedent how the formed it and welded it.

Hi Guys!
I mean the stock arch is the most difficult to make. So you can cheat, go to the junk yard and get some lampfot etc with same radius and sew it together ;)Or steel from the wife hehe!

Such pistols were also known dags.  Searching for that term may help as will Doune, an early gunmaking center in Scotland.
