I can’t tell if this is old or a repro. Almost looks like wrought iron. In great shape. 41” long, round, .700 bore. 1.3” at the breech.

Thanks!

is there a brass front sight or bayo lug? If the latter, top or bottom?

2 iron lugs underneath. No other signs this barrel was ever used. No underlugs where expected.

I’ll probably use this one to build a plain “militia gun” with no buttplate.

shared from a generous colleague in the Netherlands:
"By the way, behind the Amsterdam mark, you can distinguish a T, this is often found on barrels by Lambertus Thone (working from 1781 onwards). To make things complicated: Thone came from Liege and apparently had a barrel factory in Liege, whilst residing and working in Amsterdam. So this is a barrel, made by Thone [in] Amsterdam, post 1781."

I've seen that Amsterdam mark on a musket and a small brass cannon recovered from Florida waters.

James,
Very cool, Flota wrecks? Can you share images or point me towards a dig report?
