There was a Bertrand Piraube who was a royal gunsmith in France in the late 1700's to early 1800's. Could that be the maker?

Yeah, it's a Piraube. It's actually a fowling piece! Yes, I think he was one of the very best ever. I'll get more photos soon.

Stunning! Checking just now, there's a 23-bore Bertrand Piraube sporting gun in the Royal Armouries Study Collection, object no. XII.1690. Looking forward to seeing many more photos of yours.
