Title: John and Daniel Furney
Post by: Dietle on May 31, 2025, 07:55:57 PM
The photos of the “J. FURNEY” rifle I shared a few days ago here inspired me to continue my research on the gunsmith brothers John and Daniel Furney. It’s a tough subject to research, but I found a surprising amount new (at least to me) information, and the search has been interesting.

I could use some help finding the 1840 Ohio census records for Philip, John, and Daniel Furney, and the 1850 Ohio census records for Philip and John. I suspect John was in Ohio by 1840, but he might have still been in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

Here’s a link to the gunsmith biography page I have for John and Daniel Furney: https://korns.org/gunsmiths/John-Furney-8212020/John-Furney-8152020.html (https://korns.org/gunsmiths/John-Furney-8212020/John-Furney-8152020.html)
