Title: Filing and Sanding

  Hi, I'm putting together a Kibler SMR that I am going to brown. How far do I need to go with the filing and sanding, on the Butt plate and trigger guard. Thanks.

Duane,
 On my SMR, I filed the guard and butt plate only because they would have been filed and had that finish originally.  They didn't really need any clean-up.  After I filed all the surfaces, I sanded to 400 and then hit it with gray Scotch Brite to blend the scratches.
