I picked this up in a trade several months ago .I'm hoping one of you guys can help me out with a little info. I believe this is Eastern Tenn. Itis walnut stocked and iron mounted with a pewter nose cap .The barrell is 44 1/2 inches long and unmarked. The but plate is made with two piecesof iron Theres nice file work on the trigger guard. No wood replaced that I can see. I know it's hard to pin down a maker on some of these plainer guns but was hoping some detail might ring a bell with someone. Any idea of maker or area ? Thanks Jim

Nice one, for sure. The cheek rest looks a little like the Soddy Daisy, TN area. But the cross section doesn't.
Hope Cades Cove Fiddler will weigh in.

AZshot I also thought the cheek had a little Soddy Daisy feel. I think this is a later gun . It has a big beefy feel . Like a target rifle. The barrel is a heavy 41 cal. Jim

Thank's all for the comments. I guess this is still a mystery. If anyone would like to see this rifle and a few onthers. I will have it at the Kansas City show this coming weekend July 26,27. Thanks, Jim

I would love to see it! I have tables at the show and hope I get a chance to walk around.

When you walk through the front doors turn right . I'm on a end cap five or six rows down. All I have is old junk. Hope to see you there. Jim

mesabi - Don't let Jim fool you. I've had the pleasure of seeing his so called "junk". It's top drawer stuff, and Jim is always willing to share his knowledge. Wish I could be there but family obligations got in the way this time. Enjoy the show.

I didn't get much of a chance to walk around, but Jim's tables weren't that far from mine. I remembered one of my favorite "old junk" tables from previous shows and made a quick visit; I had guessed right. Jim wasn't there, but I at least got the chance to eyeball the rifle. She's a dandy!
