Title: Fowler signature
Post by: Hlbly on October 11, 2025, 09:29:48 PM
Anyone recognize this signature? It is on a New England fowler, 48” barrel, untouched attic condition.

I cannot make it out but would put money on it being a recycled barrel.

Recycled from a European firearm?

Hlbly, can you show a closeup photo?
As it looks in the photo, the gold seems very shallow, as if it were a gilded or painted, rather than inlayed. Is that right?

You would probably lose your bet.

That's why they call it gambling instead of winning, I guess!
Can you show more of the gun?

I will have it and and another one by the same maker at the Virginia show. The other one is unsigned. I will try to post some pics tomorrow. I am 82 and have a bad tremor, so things are not easy for me.

Glad you are going to the show,  I am anxious to see that one & its sister.
