WOULD IT BE KOSHER IF YOU USED A REMOVEABLE FRONT SIGHT COVER MADE OF BRASS? A BUDDY HAS A PROBLEM SEEING HE'S FRONT SIGHT, MAYBE A REMOVEABLE FRONT SIGHT COVER CAN HELP, WHERE HE CAN TAKE IT OFF AND MOVE TO THE NEXT TARGET.

Many shooters use a " shadr " made from brass that is a friction fit over the barrel st the sight local.

Here's a sight cover made from a plastic RIG Grease container. Easy to cut the right width barrel slot. Use it as a prototype for a more HC cover.

A sliced plastic 12 or 10 bore case works well, if the wings of the front sight sit over the edge of the dovetail, like this.

I fabricate my shaders from 2” Schedule 20 PVC. Work quite well.. ;)

I also like the brass ones. Mine aren't quite as fancy but are snap on from copper plumbing couplings.

Not only kosher, but these were frequently used on original firearms. Here's one of my favorites that William Billinghurst mounted on the rifle barrel of an over/under percussion gun. Note that he also incorporated a very fine post into the shade for better accuracy. Although it does not show in these photographs, the shade has a cut-out in the bottom front that slides around the original front sight and secures it into position. There were many other styles, so just make one that fits your need.

I used to cut the bottom out of a 35mm film container & shade mine. Cut a oblong
slot that fit over the front sight. Make that slot snug & go right under the base of the
sight.

VERY INTERESTING IDEAS, I THINK I'LL EXPERIMENT, AND TRY TO MAKE THIS MAN A BETTER SHOOTER.
