Title: Finger weaving

I’m interested in learning how to finger weave bag/horn straps as well as slings, can anyone steer me toward good educational resources? Also what materials (yarn) are used that are historically accurate? I love the look of a woven strap over a plain leather thong or strap. As always, the knowledge passed on to us via this forum is much appreciated.

Crazy Crow has several books on finger weaving. I have used Jute for my straps: the light brown color and green; Amazon has black jute. It's a simple process, a bit tedious, but worth the effort. -- JB

Fingerweaving Basics by Gerald Finley is the best book I've found. Very detailed diagrams showing how to do it.

I've used wool carpet yarn, its nice and "hard" compared to normal yarn. Not sure where to get it, I bought several cones from a weaving shop my wife frequented.

That’s one book I did notice and have it in my “cart”. I live near a lot of Amish and wonder what kind of yarns I might be able to procure from them.
