Picked up a stunning bench copy of a Redding rifle by Ric Lambert at the Alabama show. Ric and I discussed in detail how it was made with the original gun on the bench. We also discussed aging techniques on how to get them to look just right. This one has a 44-inch 40 caliber swamped barrel and a modified Siler lock. Beautifully aged and carved stock with a 12 and 7/8 in pull that looks just like an original gun.

It's astonishing how close to the original this rifle was made. Ric told me he would make a replacement part for the original rifle then fit it to this one. It was a process stretching out over a couple of years before it was completed. Details of how the stock finish was created and applied I'm not willing to put in writing on a public forum. Come see me at the CLA for sure and Knoxville probably.

That’s super nice! Very believable. Great job Ric!

Daniel, Do you know if the original is in any of the reference books, like RCA, etc.?

I don't think so. I remember Ric saying there was very little left of the original rifle and held his hands up to show how long the piece was.

Very nice job Ric.
Can't tell it from an original.

I also was lucky enough to find a Hershel House powder horn (Thanks to Stoner Creek) at the same show.

I have looked at that gun several times. Good catch. I have some of Ric’s work and it is top notch. I’m looking at another rifle of his that has not been for sale for years. Had a “right of first” on it. Called and said it was available. Hope to pick up at Lake Cumberland.

Hope you get it Don. I'm still on the fence if I'm going to this show as guest or not. Please post pictures if end up with it!

One of my favorites! Listening to Ric talk about it made the experience all the more special to me.
