Title: Source of unthreaded, unslotted screw balnks
Post by: smart dog on August 25, 2008, 07:32:23 AM
Hi Guys,
Does anyone know of a source for unthreaded and unslotted steel screw blanks?  Most of the blanks sold by TOW, Dixie, Brownell's are all slotted.  I want to slot and thread the screws myself and I get tired of turning blanks down on a lathe.

Your best bet will be Brownell's, they sell unslotted, unthreaded blanks. Go to:

http://www.brownells.com/

Type in "screw blanks" and you will find all you need.

Thanks Guys,
Blackleys would be very expensive and slow and Brownell's screw blanks are all slotted (I have a set).  They do not show any unslotted screws on their website catalog.  Dixie has blanks but they are expensive.  I was hoping there might be an industrial supplier that sells blanks.

Sorry Dave, I didn't pay close enough attention. I have an assortment of unslotted blanks that I got from them 20 or so years ago, maybe I was the last one to buy any so they quit offering them...  :(

Dave,
I've got some extra #12's  that I can part with, both tang and lock.....unthreaded and unslotted.
(My mistake....they are #10's, not 12's)
Contact me off board if interested.  Include price range you are willing to pay.

Others, this is for Dave only.....don't deluge me with inquiries.
