While this isn't my first gun, it is my first pistol. I know you can't see much detail, but I post the photo because it think it's a good 'un. I told the photographer I wanted it to look as though the setting was a darkened room lit only by a fire. I think he nailed it. The pistol has a .50 caliber 10" Green Mountain barrel and a Bailes lock. The stain is my own brew of white cider vinegar with very old barbed wire dissolved in it. It's a work in progress and is about 16 months old. I finished the wood with several coats of Johnson's paste wax. The barrel and lock were browned then wooled back. I used brass black on the furniture. Rick

I agree....good looking pistol, very well photographed..!!
A question for the home-based rifle builders....My potential work area for building is pretty small. Would I be wise to consider building a pistol as a first project...??
Thanks,
Don

Rick,
Nice looking pistol. I like the photography also. Getting a good picture can be as hard as building the rifle. Thanks for sharing.

That is one good looking pistol. I've one to build when I get the nerve. Hope it turns out half as well.
