Title: Original Powder Horn #2
Post by: Majorjoel on January 17, 2011, 07:51:54 PM
This flat horn came out of South Gap VA. It has a very cool hide repair done back in the day. I was told that squirrel hides were often used for horn repair because the skin was very thin and supple. I wonder here??   (https://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq171/joelhall452/P1010202.jpg)

That's intriuging! It was too cool to throw away, so they fixed it by whatever means available. Actually quite a common practice back then, as you know.
Please post pics of the rest when you have time!

This is a very cool horn Joel, I like the way they repaired it, it gives it character!
