I recently acquired a .36 caliber Hatfield percussion rifle and need to know what size nipple fits this rifle. Since it's missing the nipple I am unsure of the proper size . I am hoping it's 1/4 x 28 but know of the link to Pedersoli rifles which I am sure are probably metric. Does anyone know for sure the proper size? Thanks

I do NOT, but if you got the bbl, I'd find some screws and see what fits.
Italian made units are 6mm. Lots of old stuff was 12-28
I know, I have a lot of em.

I don't know for sure, but I'd bet on 1/4-28. I've read the Hatfield rifle was originally produced in the U.S., so if you have one of those 1/4-28 would be likely. Pedersoli's current Blue Ridge Mountain Rifle takes (according to the Cabela's website) 1/4-28 nipple threads, and the Pedersoli website lists 1/4-28 nipples for some of their guns. I'd probably try a 1/4-28, VERY carefully, but abort the test at the first hint of resistance or cross-threading. Good luck with it. SCL
